The catering and banqueting sector in Italy is experiencing strong growth, with projections for 2025 showing an 8% increase in revenue, following a 5.8% rise the previous year. The industry is expected to surpass €2.3 billion in total turnover and involve more than 110,000 workers, including 15,000 permanent employees. These figures were presented during the recent National Banqueting and Catering Association (Anbc-Fipe) assembly held in Rome at the Confcommercio headquarters. The event brought together entrepreneurs, experts, and institutional representatives to discuss the future direction of the sector.
Participants at the assembly highlighted that the industry is undergoing significant transformation. Growth is not only economic but also organizational, with a notable increase in new members joining Anbc-Fipe, especially from southern Italy. This trend points to the sector’s vitality and growing appeal across different regions.
Discussions focused on how to manage this expansion by emphasizing professionalism, sustainability, and innovation in services. These elements are seen as essential to meet evolving customer demands for high-quality experiences and advanced solutions. The resurgence of events after pandemic-related restrictions has played a key role in driving demand, while companies’ ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions has strengthened the sector’s resilience.
Paolo Capurro, president of Anbc-Fipe, stated that the rise in membership, particularly from southern regions, demonstrates that catering and banqueting remain dynamic and attractive fields. He described these businesses as examples of Italian excellence based on quality, professionalism, and innovation. Capurro emphasized the need for continued investment in these values to enhance competitiveness and maintain high standards.
He also addressed the importance of facing challenges with determination by focusing on legality, quality, and attracting young talent. According to Capurro, investing in quality and professionalism not only boosts economic value but also strengthens the social and cultural impact of the sector. He concluded that these efforts are crucial for building a solid and sustainable future for catering and banqueting in Italy.
The assembly underscored that as demand for sophisticated events grows, companies must continue to evolve their offerings. The sector’s ability to attract new professionals and adapt to market changes positions it as one of the most dynamic engines within Italy’s service economy. With ongoing investments in training, innovation, and sustainability, industry leaders believe catering and banqueting will remain competitive and appealing for future generations.
