Georgia Increases Wine Exports by 5% in First Quarter

Georgia exported 17.3 million liters of wine to 51 countries during the first quarter of this year, according to data released by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. The total value of these exports exceeded USD 53 million. This marks a 5% increase in export volume and a 7% rise in value compared to the same period last year.

The ministry highlighted significant growth in several key markets. Exports to Germany reached 375,000 liters, representing a 32% increase from the previous year’s first quarter. The United Kingdom imported 86,000 liters of Georgian wine, up by 9%. Exports to China also grew by 4%, totaling 831,000 liters.

Officials attribute the growth to ongoing promotional efforts and expanding distribution networks in international markets. Georgian wine producers have focused on strengthening their presence in Europe and Asia, aiming to diversify export destinations and reduce reliance on traditional markets.

The ministry’s statement emphasized that the positive trend reflects both increased demand for Georgian wine abroad and improvements in production quality. The government continues to support local wineries through marketing campaigns and participation in international trade fairs.

Georgia’s wine industry is a significant part of the country’s economy and cultural heritage. The sector has seen steady growth over recent years, with producers investing in modern technology while maintaining traditional winemaking methods. The latest export figures suggest that Georgian wine is gaining broader recognition and acceptance among consumers worldwide.

Industry analysts note that continued growth will depend on maintaining quality standards and adapting to changing consumer preferences in different regions. The ministry plans to release further updates as new data becomes available throughout the year.
