2026-04-20

The international competition in Ampuis will bring together judges from around the world to assess Syrah and Shiraz wines blind

The 20th edition of Syrah du Monde, an international competition devoted to Syrah and Shiraz wines, will take place May 19 and 20 in Ampuis, France, with organizers expecting 450 wine samples from 26 countries and about 100 expert judges from around the world.

The deadline for sample delivery is April 27, according to the event’s registration notice. The competition, which bills itself as one of the largest gatherings focused on the grape variety, is held in Ampuis, a town in France’s Rhône Valley that is closely associated with Syrah production.

Organizers said the 2026 edition will bring together wines from a wider range of regions than in past years, reflecting the grape’s spread across established and emerging wine areas. The judging panel will include international specialists selected to evaluate the wines blind.

Registration materials are available in French and English on the competition’s website, along with instructions for submitting samples, arranging transport and applying to serve as a juror.
