Bulk shipments and bottled sales lifted earnings as white wines outpaced red varieties across key markets.

Argentina’s wine exports extended their recovery in April, driven by a sharp increase in bulk shipments and a steady rise in bottled wine sales, according to data released by the National Viticulture Institute, or INV.

The country exported 20.5 million liters of wine in April, up 21.9% from the same month a year earlier. The value of those shipments, together with exports of concentrated grape must, brought first-quarter and April combined earnings to $250.1 million FOB, up 5.8% from the same period in 2025.

The strongest momentum came from bulk wine, which rose 82.7% year over year in April. Fractioned wine, the bottled category that still accounts for most of Argentina’s wine exports by value, increased 4.7%. White wines also outperformed red and other colored wines, with exports up 69.8% in April, compared with a 12.8% gain for colored wines.

The INV said the figures were based on preliminary data from the Malvina customs system. In volume terms, bulk wine exports reached 67,873 hectoliters in April, compared with 37,150 hectoliters in the same month of 2025. White bulk wine was the standout segment, jumping 420.7%.

Among destinations for Argentine bulk varietal wines, Britain remained the largest market, followed by the United States, France and Germany. For bottled wines, the main buyers in April were Britain, the United States, Brazil, Canada and Mexico.

Bottled wine continued to dominate Argentina’s export mix within the fractioned category. Bottles accounted for 94.9% of shipments in April. Other formats also grew quickly: tetra brik exports rose 177.9% from a year earlier, and bag-in-box shipments increased 234.6%.

For the January-April period, total wine exports reached 67.7 million liters, up 17% from the same stretch in 2025. Bottled wine exports rose 2.4% over that period, while bulk wine climbed 61.6%. White wine again led growth over the four months, with total white wine exports up 73.9%, helped by a 363.2% surge in white bulk shipments.

Concentrated grape must also posted gains. April exports totaled 9,091 metric tons, up 33.9% year over year. For the first four months of the year, must shipments reached 30,578 metric tons, an increase of 33.3%. The average export price for concentrated must fell 10.5% in the January-April period.

The export rebound matters for Argentina’s wine regions, especially Mendoza, San Juan and La Rioja, where foreign sales help support production, logistics and employment across the sector as producers seek to regain ground in key markets abroad.
