Family-run Valpolicella estate’s research-driven approach brings international acclaim, top critic scores, and prestigious industry honors this year

The Tedeschi winery, based in Pedemonte di Valpolicella in northern Italy, has experienced a year marked by significant recognition both at home and abroad. In 2025, the historic family-run estate underwent a rebranding, adopting the new claim “Dedicated to knowledge.” This change reflects the winery’s ongoing commitment to research, innovation, and respect for the Valpolicella region’s traditions.

The Tedeschi family, led by siblings Sabrina, Antonietta, and Riccardo, has continued to invest in scientific research. The winery is currently involved in four collaborative projects with the University of Verona, La Sapienza University of Rome, and the Edmund Mach Institute of San Michele all’Adige. These partnerships focus on improving viticulture and winemaking while maintaining a strong connection to the local terroir.

This dedication has translated into a series of awards and high ratings from respected wine critics and publications throughout 2025. Monica Larner, Italian wine critic for Robert Parker Wine Advocate, included five Tedeschi wines in her report on new releases from Veneto. She noted the winery’s recent expansion, the creation of a wine library for older vintages, and the launch of GA.RY—a white blend of Garganega, Rhine Riesling, and Chardonnay. Larner described the Valpolicella Classico Superiore La Fabriseria as one of the most significant wines of its denomination.

Eric Guido of Vinous praised Tedeschi’s stylistic consistency and balance in his report “Veneto Rising: Amarone, Soave and Beyond.” He highlighted the Amarone as “fantastic” and more savory than sweet. Guido awarded scores between 91 and 95 points to several Tedeschi wines, calling GA.RY “a total pleasure to taste” and describing Marne 180 2021 as a harmonious Amarone.

James Suckling also recognized the quality of Tedeschi’s range with scores between 90 and 94 points. Ian D’Agata gave 98 points to Capitel Monte Olmi 2015 and 91 points to Valpolicella Maternigo 2021, noting its elegance and versatility with food.

Internationally, Tedeschi’s Marne 180 received a Gold Medal at the Korea Wine Challenge 2025 and a Silver Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2025. The winery was also invited to participate in the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter 2026. Falstaff magazine awarded five stars to Tedeschi, giving high marks to their Amarone wines: Maternigo Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Riserva 2016 received 97 points, while Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Riserva 2018 earned 96 points.

National recognition followed as well. The Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Riserva 2018 was listed among the top “Stelle Polari” in the Guida Oro I Vini di Veronelli 2026. It also received three “Bicchieri” from Gambero Rosso, five “Grappoli” from Bibenda, a Crown from Vini Buoni d’Italia Touring Club Guide, 96 points from Doctor Wine Cernilli, a Gold Medal from The Wine Hunter Merano, and a nomination for a Platinum Medal.

Wine Spectator selected Tedeschi as one of only seven Valpolicella wineries among its 69 Classic Wineries for OperaWine 2026. This selection further cements Tedeschi’s reputation as an ambassador for quality wines that express their regional identity.

The achievements of this year reflect not only technical skill but also a long-term vision that values both tradition and progress. The Tedeschi family continues to build on its legacy through research-driven winemaking and a clear focus on quality. Their efforts have been met with widespread acclaim from critics and industry leaders across Europe, Asia, and North America.
