Mast-Jägermeister has completed a new €17.6 million barrel storage facility in Kamenz, in the eastern German state of Saxony, as the company moves to expand production capacity and secure more space for aging its herbal liqueur.
The site, which the company said is meant to “future-proof” barrel storage, adds room for up to 225 barrels and covers about 5,000 square feet. The project is part of a broader effort by the maker of Jägermeister to strengthen its supply chain and support growth from within, according to Michael Volke, the company’s chief executive.
“We are deliberately investing in our production base,” Volke said in a statement. “The new barrel storage strengthens the quality and resilience of our supply chain and creates the conditions for continued growth from within.”
The facility was built mainly with timber and includes a photovoltaic system and a rainwater management setup, part of Mast-Jägermeister’s push to reduce energy use and manage resources more efficiently. The company said the design reflects a long-term approach to production and environmental responsibility.
Florian Rehm, chairman of the supervisory board and majority shareholder of Mast-Jägermeister, said the investment reflects the company’s family ownership structure and its focus on long-term planning. “As a family-owned company, we think in generations,” he said. “Our ambition is to combine economic growth with ecological responsibility.”
Kamenz now joins Wolfenbüttel, in Lower Saxony, as one of Mast-Jägermeister’s key production sites. The company also operates its headquarters, visitor center and another production facility in Wolfenbüttel.
The new barrel storage project is among Mast-Jägermeister’s largest investments in recent years. In June 2025, the company spent €6.7 million expanding production at its Wolfenbüttel site. The business later reported stronger sales in 2025, with gains in both volume and value.
Mast-Jägermeister’s portfolio extends beyond its namesake liqueur. It partly owns Teremana Tequila, the brand associated with Dwayne Johnson, and serves as its global distributor. Teremana entered 20 new markets in 2025. The company also holds a stake in Gin Sul, a gin producer based in Hamburg.
